SUMMARY

This position is on the Midstream Surface Engineering Team reporting to the Facility Engineering Manager. The Specialist III Process Engineer position will be responsible for technical support of the process engineering group which provides operational support to the Midstream assets. Midstream assets consist of 5 Central Delivery Plants (CDP) and their associated gathering pipelines. This person has expertise in core discipline area developed from knowledge, training and experience. Quickly grasps different concepts and is seen as someone who applies knowledge creatively and intelligently to solve problems. Takes initiative within the team and across team/discipline boundaries to widen personal network. Broadens within own discipline to undertake more complex tasks and proactively seeks training and experience-broadening opportunities to build a more detailed knowledge of the function and the division. Works well within teams, solving problems by using own experience -set and outside resources. Plans and carries out project or task with minimal supervision and provides regular, meaningful verbal and documented report to Team Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports revalidation PHA efforts: preparation, participation and close-out
  • Leads and facilitates MOC design reviews and risk assessments; ensure recommendations are closed-out appropriately
  • Develops criteria and process to revalidate items on critical control equipment lists and maintains the lists
  • Serves as a resource to Central Engineering Process Safety Group
  • Manage critical facility documents such a s P&IDs and PFDs
  • Work with peers to develop process monitoring strategies and tools
  • Work with peers to ensure compliance with Midstream PSM program
  • Supports day-to-day operations of facilities including troubleshooting and optimization
  • Optimizes facility operations through MOC initiation, development, planning and execution
  • Investigates incident related to process safety or repeat equipment failures via the 5-Whys or ICAM methodology
  • Works with operations engineering team members to carryout high risk, complex and non-routine jobs
  • At times, direct and guide the activities of consulting engineers and office/field interns
  • Coordinate or leads facility shutdowns
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts aimed at reduced cost and increased productivity at designated facilities
  • Supports new facility or brownfield expansion PSUR/ handovers
  • Supports Midstream Production Unity commercial group to seek and evaluate new revenue-generating opportunities
  • Supports development team to formulate plan, design and specification for Permian midstream facility

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • BS or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 6 plus years’ experience in the design and operation of oil and gas unity operations; specific experience in midstream facilities
  • 6 plus years’ experience in oil and gas production and processing facilities
  • Knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, and SSHA terms and guidelines
  • Knowledge about computer simulation software, particularly HYSYS, used to model steady state processes and Flarenet used to model the flare system
  • Possess knowledge concerning equipment design, sizing, specification, and evaluation
  • Functional knowledge and some application of skills outside of the core process
  • engineering discipline including a basic understanding of rotating equipment (pumps and
  • compressors), metering and instrumentation.
  • Is resourceful in developing knowledge needed in new and unfamiliar assignments
  • Functional knowledge in all process safety design activities such as safety equipment layout hazardous area, fire and gas, Hazard Identification (HAZID), HAZOP management including action tracking and follow up
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate work activities based on safety and operational demands
